3 WEEKS OF CLEANSING

Day 1 – Hopefully This Won’t Suck Too Much

Today I have quit consuming the following:

Meat
Poultry
Fish
Caffeine
Sugar
Alcohol
Dairy
Flour
Diet beverages

As you can imagine I am anxious and want to get this over with. For the past 2 years after the holidays I do a 7-10 day body cleanse which is designed to remove the toxins that have been building up in my body and help me lose some weight. This year I plan to do a 21 day cleanse. This may prove to be a challenge since I live to eat. It will also be a challenge, because I write about food everyday on this website and love to cook.

I know that cleansing and eating like a rabbit makes me feel really great at the end of the day, but it’s boring. Hopefully, I can find/create some recipes that will be decent.

When I write about food I always get excited and hungry… like right now. To alleviate this hunger pain I usually make something or grab some cheese. You know what they say about cheese? If not go here and it will be explained. Right now for some strange reason I want to eat baby back ribs. Not the kind with the sweet sauce, I am talking about my top secret Greco-Italian recipe. I digress.

Cleansing revitalizes you physically and mentally, so it’s worth the suffering. Last year when I was doing this, my friends and lovers said my complexion “glowed.” My face was clean, moist and alive… so were other parts of my body!

So this year I want to channel my energies and be even more productive with regards to my musings about food, wine and women. I have decided to keep an honest daily journal of my food intake, rants, raves, and my potential journey into the culinary HEARTS OF DARKNESS and/or LORD OF THE ONION RINGS. Only time will tell. I think I am getting loopy already. Tune in next time. Tomorrow I am going to make some soup! A curried potato, leak and apple soup.

My Food For the Day:

Breakfast
A Bartlett pear

Snack
1 cup of dried apricots

Lunch
Small bowl of Ratatouille

Snack
1 cup of organic raisins
1 bottle of sparkling water
