Give the Gift of Homemade Cookies

Homemade baked love is better than mistletoe.

The aroma of baking sugar, chocolate chips and vanilla starts in the kitchen and drifts around the halls, permeating the entire house. The anticipation is irresistible. I keep turning the oven light on and off every other minute to see if they’re done. It’s the longest ten minutes ever. Cookies, especially, moist, warm and chewy, gourmet chocolate chip cookies fresh from the oven, are one of my favorite comfort foods and they may be hers too!

Given the terrible climate of the economy this holiday season, if you can’t afford that diamond pendent for your sweetheart, then tempt her taste buds with some fresh-baked love. It’s easy, fun and hopefully she'll be impressed by the time and effort you invested on her behalf. Remember, it’s the thought that counts. You'll be surprised how she may warm up to you for just a fraction of the cost.

Presentation is often as important as the gift you're wrapping. Since you are giving her some crispy crunchy, homemade love, take the time to wrap your baked goods well. Package your cookies in an attractive container such as a basket, tin or box. These are easy to find at an arts and crafts store such as Michaels or try stores such as Target and Walmart. In Canada, the Dollarama is an amazing place to find attractive containers.

Don't forget, cookies can be the perfect gifts for office wives and crushes too. Everyone appreciates tantalizing comfort food. Happy baking.
