This is the 6th day of this cleanse and I am starving! I have lost weight. I am more irritable, which probably has to do with the lack of sugar and caffeine. I have more energy and my sex drive has increased. Since I can’t eat the things I want, I have to find comfort in other ways.
This cleanse is a real challenge because I do still cook everyday for my girlfriend. Although she is very supportive and wants to eat the things I have to eat, I would rather cook her the things that I want to eat. I get great pleasure in seeing her eat the foods I'm craving. I live vicariously through her stomach. Yes it’s strange, but it helps me deal with the stress of not having what I want.
So far my diet has consisted of fresh and frozen organic fruit, agave nectar (it comes from the same plant that makes tequila), raw honey, hemp hearts, salads, fresh simply amazing guacamole, roasted vegetables, water, and natural herbs. Carolyn, a nutritionist and the host of Carolyn’s Goodies has been giving me advice too.
I have been cooking comfort food dishes for my girlfriend including: amazing tuna melts, chicken quesadillas, and my chocolate balls!
This cleanse does suck, but then again I do feel good, not great (yet)! However, I have a few wonderful culinary events to look forward to in the upcoming weeks. They include the Superbowl and a visit to the famous Charlie Trotter’s in Chicago. Check back for more updates.
