Situated on the lower level (below sea level) of Grand Central Station is a seafood gem. The Oyster Bar in New York City is a landmark, serving seafood since 1913. It's loud, the décor is amazing and it's a great time. Well, it can be if you have a sexy waitress like I did.
I remember the first time I went there, when I was a kid. I don't remember how old I was, but my mom and I were meeting my pop for lunch to celebrate his promotion. I remember I had no idea what to eat. My folks ordered me fried oysters and scallops and they were great.
As an adult, I had the pleasure of re-visiting the Oyster Bar. My friend and I sat at the back bar. To our delight, a gorgeous brunette was tending bar and took great care of us. Flirting for her tips. I admit to fleeting thoughts of her naked on my bed with an oyster shooter on the lower part of her back. Maybe a sexy tattoo...
So that's what I imagined as I swallowed a variety of raw oysters. Contrary to popular belief, oysters are not an aphrodisiac. They contain water, protein, carbohydrates and traces of fat, sugar and minerals. Not a concoction to make her swoon. Liqueur is quicker.
The food at the Oyster Bar is fantastic and the wine list is extensive, with over 300 bottles to choose from. And you can't beat the decor and unique location in a grand old train station. If you don't get the oysters, you're a schmuck. Try 'em; you'll love 'em. Dead sexy.
