Allen’s
Allen’s Gastropub in the heart of Greektown on the Danforth serves up a sensational wee burger and that is the reason why we went. Also we went to drink several pints of nourishment (Guinness).
Inside the atmosphere is romantic. Wood floors, dims lighting make the pub seem rustic and warm. It’s a cozy joint. After a pint or two, we shared the calamari (recommended by our waiter), a mixed green salad and a burger with cheddar cheese bacon and sautéed onions. Forget about everything else on the menu and get the burger which is a small, juicy. handmade patty that was cooked to our liking (medium rare.) It was cooked to perfection. I recommend that you each get a burger because they are pretty small.
The calamari we had was some of the worst I have ever had and the salad was sub-par. I hope their Irish dishes are decent. However, I will go back again for the burger, which starts out at $9 a la cart. Get it with some regular or sweet potato chips (French fries) and you will be in heaven. So far it’s the best I have had in Toronto.
