Toronto’s culinary scene is vast and vivacious. In one area of the city, tantalizing fragrances of crispy duck, bbq spareribs and steamed dumplings waft throughout streets. Toronto’s Chinatown is one of the largest in North America.
Recently, a fellow food friend took me to dim sum at the Bright Pearl Seafood on Spadina Blvd. one Saturday morning and it was sensational. Shrimp dishes, sausages, sweet and sour dishes washed down with some pints of jasmine tea were a weekend delight. Dim sum is Chinese tapas. Little plates of delicious delicacies on wheeled carts roll by your table for your choosing.
On occasion, I would go to dim sum for brunch in Los Angeles because there is nothing like wontons, fried shrimps and other far east concoctions to cheer up my Sunday morning woes (more than often that was a hangover). The Bright Pearl’s large hall and delicious grub reminds me of the place I would eat at, Empress Pavilion, a Michelin rated dim sum sensation in Los Angeles.
Bright Pearl Seafood is a great weekend place to take a date for some fun food for the morning after or for a harmless “just friends” brunch date.
