Over on Mount Pleasant and south of Eglinton is the Celestin Café, a quaint French Bistro that serves up a delicious breakfast/brunch from 8:30 AM-2:30 PM Wednesday-Sunday. If you’re fortunate enough to go out for “food for the morning after," then this is a great place for some European inspired breakfast cuisine. It’s one of the best breakfast meals I have ever had. It exceeded my expectations and is considerably better than any breakfast café in Los Angeles and comparable to New York’s morning eateries.
My beverage was an ice tea, but please take note that in Canada ice tea comes already sweetened so be sure to order without sugar and fresh brewed. For the meal, I ordered the Croque Madame with frites. This fried ham and egg sandwich was served on fresh baked white bread and topped with two sunny side up eggs. The salad that accompanied this dish was flavorful and well balanced and the frites (French Fries) were fantastic. This was the best breakfast because the eggs tasted farm fresh, the ham was delicious and the bread just amazing and the salad and fries...
My curly haired, hungry female companion gobbled down “the best quiche I have ever had” she said. It was a pancetta, three mushroom and garlic quiche with mixed greens.
The atmosphere is classically clean with white table clothes spread all over the tables, simple yet regal decor and there is plenty of natural light that saturates the room. Give it a try! Check out their offerings.
