Situated in the heart of the financial district in Downtown Toronto is Ki, a trendy sushi restaurant and lounge that serves up delicious sushi and sashimi. It’s has a huge dinning room and bar with tall cozy seats that make you feel like you’re the captain of your own starship. Indeed they are comfortable and slightly goofy or swanky depending on how you see it. The décor is nice and it should make your date feel warm and fuzzy. Even the bathrooms are sexy looking.
We sampled a lot of food from the wok-tossed Asparagus, Enoki & Shiitake Mushrooms; Spicy Atlantic salmon, asparagus, endive, spicy raspberry sauce; Hamachi & Jalapeño with fresh sliced garlic & ponzu and a lot of sushi. The simple sushi is very fresh and the sautéed veggies are packed with tons of taste. I would stay away from the fancier rolls. They’re all about flare and not flavor.
The only negative criticism I have about Ki is the “sushi bar.” When you sit at this “sushi bar” you don’t order from the sushi chefs and you can’t see what the chefs are doing. Waitresses take your order and serve your grub. I like to interact with my sushi chef and buy them a beer. However, that is strictly prohibited. Overall, I would dine at Ki again for their simple dishes.
