I have been in Toronto for 10 months now and can tell you that the beer here is far superior to any beer produced in the U.S. Switching to wine was easy because who needs the beer gut that much? I was slightly hesitant to experiment with Ontario wine after living in Los Angeles for 13 years. However, I am happy that I have started.
Apparently the 2007 vintage is Ontario's best year in history and when you try a glass of THIRTY BENCH 2007 Riesling you will be instantly transported to your inner Candyland. It will make you smile and it won't break the bank at $18.20 at the LCBO (I am not sure if you can get this in the U.S, but do try). Thirty Bench is a premium vineyard on the Niagara peninsula in Ontario, Canada producing high quality Riesling and red varietals.
Tasting Note:
Aromas of citrus, peach and pear. Hints of minerals. A fresh light-medium bodied Riesling. A refreshing drop that is excellent with seafood, chicken and roasted pork with light sauces.
