Meat From The Bone - Baby Back Spare Ribs

Rating: XXX

Where to get good meat.

There is nothing like eating meat from the bone. I have a barbecue recipe for pork, baby back, spare ribs that’s amazing. I would love to post this recipe, but I can't 'cause it’s a family secret. Good news though-- you can order a slab or two from me and I'll mail them to you! My ribs have literally convinced vegetarians to eat meat again.

I always use the best products for this one-of-a-kind recipe. Believe it or not, I get my ribs from Costco. They have more meat on them, taste wonderful and the quality is consistent. Not to mention the price is great too.

I live in Los Angeles and I’ve tried every supermarket that sells baby back ribs. In my opinion, nothing compares to the constant quality and price Costco provides. In addition to pork, they carry amazing beef too. All of Costco’s meat is CHOICE grade. If you’ve ever wondered what those grades mean, it’s how tender the meat is. The three grades, from most to least tender, are PRIME, CHOICE and SELECT. To learn more about selecting and cooking meat, all you have to do is go to our Cooking 101 pages and choose your product.

When buying baby back ribs, look for ribs that don’t have a lot of fat on them. The less white you see, the better. Costco has some of the highest quality standards in North America when it comes to meat products. They do their own auditing of their suppliers’ facilities and they hire independent auditors to do the same.

Since Costco sells wholesale, the quantity of meat per package can be large. Unless you’re hosting a party, you’re probably going to have extra meat left over. No worries-- just freeze it. The product can last several months in the freezer if you make sure to wrap it nicely in plastic wrap and put it in a freezer-proof bag. Or you can use the remainder the next day, if you wrap it in plastic wrap and refrigerate. Covered properly, meat should last a few days in the fridge. If you’ve got a Costco in your neighborhood, go there for your meat needs. You won’t be disappointed!
